EMDR Pakistan is essentially a professional and a research body constituted for mental health  professionals. It will provide a platform to all qualified EMDR clinicians, practitioners, consultants, facilitators and trainers within Pakistan. This body has been formed to put Pakistan on the international map in the field of mental health and psychotrauma… EMDR Pakistan has been conceived with the aim of attaining the highest standards and excellence in the field of mental health sciences through the pooling of intellectual and academic resources from across the globe. This is to ensure that the EMDR clinicians of EMDR Pakistan can realize their full potential in the fields of mental health, research, medical education, psychology, health services, through the delivery of ethical, evidence-based, scientific health care to the Pakistani populace based on principles of equity and accessibility. The major areas of pursuit in this regard will be the resolution of symptoms resulting from disturbing and unresolved life experiences. It will use a structured, protocolised approach to address past, present, and future aspects of disturbing memories.
The constitution of EMDR Pakistan is conceived as a consensus document that is simple, futuristic, and dynamic. The prime objective of the document is to facilitate the smooth functioning of the association and provide broad parameters for its operations. All articles have therefore to be read and interpreted with the basic premise of assistance in achieving the aims and objectives of the Association. All articles can be amended, and altered after fulfilling the conditions laid down in the relevant provisions of the Constitution.

To improve through EMDR therapy the lives of people affected by trauma and mental illness related to stressful experiences and relationships, in order to promote and enhance mental health, as well as preventing mental ill health. EMDR Pakistan Services ensure that clinicians and clients have access to information regarding quality therapeutic services based on EMDR’s protocol standards with full respect to the health and safety of the consumer.

Aims and Objectives

The prime aim of the EMDR Pakistan shall be to assist its members in their academic, scientific and professional theory and practice of EMDR and to ensure the welfare of the members of the Association.
The specific objectives of the Association shall continue to evolve while the initial set of general objectives is to:

  • To promote EMDR practice, research and education within Pakistan and the region.
  • To provide periodical trainings of EMDR for new EMDR professionals, as well as refresher trainings and to arrange for proper internationally recognized certificates to be issued to the trainees.
  • To enhance the exchange of knowledge and experience among professionals in EMDR.
  • To arrange for trainings to qualify new facilitators, and trainers in Pakistan with international recognition.
  • To maintain a register of qualified EMDR clinicians facilitators and trainers within Pakistan.
  • To inform the general public about EMDR and how to access EMDR professionals for support.
  • To maintain international relationships and exchange of professional information with other EMDR associations in the world, and in particular with the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), EMDR Europe (EMDRE), EMDR HAP, and EMDR Asia
